The first release from Benriach's Peated Cask Strength series (in the same vein as their unpeated Cask Strength releases) is made with whiskies drawn from Oloroso Sherry casks and bourbon barrels.
Well-charred oak, cinnamon, salted caramel and vanilla-y cereal.
Earthy and smoky, with a pinch of white pepper warmth growing at the core. Fresh fruit notes add a hint of sweetness to the background.
Dry smoke and heather honey.

The combination of peat sherry and bottling strength make for a superb whisky.
Wow, this whiskey is strong, take in moderation and enjoyment because it is wonderful.
I hate to say this but I was very disappointed in this scotch. It has kind of an effervescent burn that is somewhat pleasant, but that’s all the positive things I can say. I didn’t get much from this except *alcohol*. In your face. I am a big fan of Benriach, especially their peated sctotches, but this one was a letdown.
This should be in those barrels that snow rescue dogs wear. Nice burn from head to tail. Look out Islay; another great peaty offering from Speyside! I also recommend Old Ballantruan and Glen Moray Classic Peated.
