For the second batch of Benriach Cask Strength, the distillers in Speyside have combined whisky matured in bourbon, oloroso sherry and virgin oak casks. Intensely flavoursome stuff.

Benriach Cask Strength - Batch 2 Reviews

All woody, superb BenRiach expression!

Rachel knows what she's doing. It's pretty good in my opinion with loads of cask influence sticking well on a younger 9-11 year old cask strength, if you expect a sherry bomb, you will be disappointed, this is much more a testament of woody flavours. Yet, it's fresh, it's a different approach to most BenRiach, I think it's a pretty good batch. 60.6% natural colour, if you into wood, you'll love that one.

Good stuff

Nose: Butter, toffee, sweet oak-spice, gentle malt. (I am not getting prune or fresh orange)
Palate: Oak-spice, touch of mint, toffee and honey. Not a lot of fruity notes. Anise grows on the finish. 4 or 4,5.... eeeh touch and go.
