Description

From the Darkness selection of superbly sherried whiskies comes a 6 year old Benriach which has been treated to a finishing period in an Oloroso sherry octave cask. These little octave casks offer a greater surface area to volume ratio than your standard cask, meaning more interaction between the wood and whisky, with lots of the sherried notes making their way into the spirit.

Nose

Flamed orange peel, salted butter on warm crumpets, juicy cherry and raspberry.

Palate

Candied ginger, malt loaf and yet more berries.

Finish

Lingering dried fruit and the last whispers of warming ginger.

Tasty treat

Great price, great whisky. Age is just a number. Flavour is everything. Came back to buy another and it's sold out. Shrug...

Great value dram

Cracking dram foe £40 though I would have happily have paid an extra £15 for a full bottle! Youthful spirit balanced with quality Sherry fruitier and more mellow with water.
