A big, brooding, smoky, smouldering dram from BenRiach, this was distilled in 1984 and aged for 27 years in a Pedro Ximenez sherry cask. It was bottled at natural cask strength.
Nose: Big peat smoke notes on the nose, with hints of manuka honey and dried peels. Notes of potpourri, dried dates and charred oak.
Palate: Coffee beans and hints of toffee apples. A little savoury, oily peat smoke, with cocoa and thick, fruity honey.
Finish: Long finish with mince pies and charcoal.

This is a fantastic bottling by BenRiach. Big nose, huge flavour impact and a long finish. If you're like me and loves the combination of sherry and peat, this is spot on. Kind of reminds me of older Bunnas. I scored it 92. If the nice chaps at MoM would find another bottle or two I wouldn't complain...
