This indie Benriach was distilled back in 1996, and was then left in a single refill hogshead for nearly a quarter of a century. After 23 years of maturing, Hunter Laing decided it was time to empty the cask for its Old Malt Cask series, with just 310 bottles released at 47.6% ABV.
Nose Ripe peach, vanilla cream and praline.
Palate Enjoyable malty, with buckets of orchard fruit and honey, supported by candied citrus and dry oak spice.
Finish Clear oak influence and apricot jam, with lingering citrus blossom and cooked apple.
