Part of the Benriach single cask selection Batch 14, much like the rest of the collection this Benriach 12 Year Old 2005 (cask 2565) is non-chill filtered and of natural colour. A Speyside single malt, it was as distilled on 10th June 2005 and matured for 12 years in an Oloroso sherry cask, making it the joint-eldest in the range. Bottled in June 2017 at a strength of 58.8% ABV, 625 bottles were produced.
Smooth aroma of sweet dried fruit competes with pinching cinnamon.
Crisp oak makes way for apples and even a hint of peach. Black pepper and fading cinnamon linger in the background.
Rich syrup flattens and fades, nothing really lingers but a subtle, sweet, hum - possibly caramel.
