An indie Benriach, drawn from a single cask after resting for 11 years. This cask strength expression was bottled by Dràm Mòr, weighing in at a solid 58% ABV, and with only 87 bottles produced.
Brazil nuts, boozy red wine, touches of damp oak and toasted bread.
Banana fritters, more damp oak, a slow build of cinnamon and nutmeg.
Honeyed raisins and sultanas, oaky vanilla.
So here we have the Ben Riach 11yo Single Cask on appearance The sherry influence is clear to see from the treacle toffee colouring this can sometimes indicate some burnt caramel has been used to achieve this. Nose Chocolate, nuts, with lots of toffee and raisins liquid fruit and nut bar Palate Oh boy wood straight away mixed with vanilla fudge and a hot toffee apple that gives a sweet but sharp taste Finish at 58%abv surprisingly no evaporation but it does dry the palate a long lingering warm finish With Ice Nose Vanilla fudge Milk Chocolate and nuts Palate In front Chocolate covered raisins very drying with wood in the background Finish as before but much smoother Dram Mor have only gone and done it again great dram I do prefer it with the ice good dram for the price Slainte Mhath
