Just 2,520 bottles of this Benriach Importanticus were released. It's a peated 12 year old aged in ex-bourbon casks before being finished in casks previously used to mature Tawny Port.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Dark peat. It proves powerful, deep and medicinal. Iodine.
Palate
Full. That dark peat is all-pervading. Bruised fruit and a very, very gentle toffee sweetness. The bulk of this is quite simple, yet beguiling. The juiciness of the cask-finish provides a little depth, but perhaps the mouth feel is where it all lies.
Finish
Long, malt and peat lingering, a little malmsey has crept in, peppered spice.
