The small batch Kentucky straight bourbon honours the legacy of Meredith Basil Hayden, Sr., who back in the 1790s was known to use more rye in his mashbill than other distillers. (He's also the chap that Old Grand-Dad bourbon is named after.) Crafted by the great Booker Noe in 1992, Basil Hayden bourbon utilises a similar mashbill as its namesake would have used, with high rye but a lighter take on the style.
Cracked black pepper, rye, and oaky spice. Hints of green pepper, lemon peels, and creamy, zesty lemon curd.
Rice Krispies, toasted cereal progressing to popcorn with gentle marshmallow, custard cream sweetness.

This is by far my new fav whiskey ! As soon as you open the bottle you can smell that it is a delicious premium whiskey ! It had such a lovely smell and taste and flavour … it tasted great with a mixer but also I enjoyed it best just by itself with a whiskey stone so that ice didn’t dilute the distinct flavour !
I've got a chance to try this Basil Hayden Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. My other half and I love a bit of bourbon and this one is right up our street. Smell and flavour of this bad boy is great, we have tried it over the rocks and with coke and either way it goes down well. It's not overly too sweet and it has a great aftertaste. Appearance of a bottle is classy, I was feeling bad opening it how good it looked. 10/10 will definitely buy it! #freesample #hometester
Wow, this is one sophisticated bourbon whiskey. The bottle itself is very classy looking and something I am happy to keep out on display in my kitchen. I love the metallic belt wrapped around the bottle itself. The flavour of the whiskey is sweet, strong, and smooth all at the same time. I enjoyed sipping this whiskey either neat, over ice or sometimes with water if I wanted to make it last a bit longer. This is the type of drink to enjoy at home alone or when socialising with friends. It would also make a very elegant gift for someone. - Christian A
I found the Basil Hayden bourbon very easy to drink and easy on the palate. There were spicy undertones but these did not overwhelm the flavour. Overall a very well balanced whiskey which I would highly recommend! This was a Home Tester Club #freesample
Wow, I am impressed. Very smooth with a nice subtle finish. This is a perfect sipping bourbon. I thing it is too light for mixing but bourbon neat or over ice is incredible. I highly recommend Basil Hayden.
