Balvenie The Twelve Year Old - The 1931 Collection 70cl Whisky

Distilled from 100% home malted barley, this 12-year-old single malt from Balvenie was created to honour the distillery's oldest ever release, which was distilled in 1931 and matured for an astonishing 88 years! Malt master Kelsey McKechnie took inspiration from both the production techniques and the style of that incredibly old liquid for this limited edition.

Balvenie's Home Maltings building was constructed in 1929, and this whisky is distilled from 100% home malted barley, produced by hand, in the same way and on the same floor as its halo 88-year-old. Handwritten archives detail that the cask filled in 1931 was a sherry butt sourced from The Garvey Bodega in Jerez, and, following initial maturation in American oak, finishing casks from a neighbouring bodega in Jerez were used here to mirror that original style.

The whisky comes housed in a prestige heavy glass bottle, usually only used for the Balvenie's Rare Marriages that are 25 years and over, and with packaging designed by world-renowned contemporary artist Daniel Arsham – known for creating iconic, time-warped works.
