As the Balvenie DoubleWood range reaches its 25th birthday, it only seems fitting for the distillery in Speyside to mark this occasion with the release of Balvenie DoubleWood 25 Year Old! This expression was initially mature in traditional whisky casks, then given a three-month finishing period in Spanish oak ex-Oloroso sherry casks.

Dense shortbread and mince-pie filling, joined a whiff of old leather later on.
Aromatic oak and rich waves of earthy vanilla. Simmering cinnamon and five-spice. Dried fruit and a hint of hot chocolate give it a welcome sweetness.
Cigar box, continued spice and just a touch of cranberry.
What a whisky! David Stewart has knocked it out the park with this one. Can't see this not receiving many positive accolades. It's divine.
