A terrific single malt from The Balvenie. This Speysider was initially aged in traditional oak casks before it was finished in casks which previously held Caribbean rum, imparting some extra sweetness and warmth to the whisky. In fact, to create it, Balvenie malt master David C. Stewart made his very own blend of West Indian rums, filled it into casks, and then eventually replaced the rum in said casks with Balvenie's whisky! The fabulous result is a well-rounded whisky with notes of toffee, fruit and vanilla.
The aroma is rich with notes of tropical fruits, namely passion fruit, and creamy toffee.
Sweet vanilla forms a creamy palate with notes of apples and mangoes with a hint of orange in the background.
The finish lingers with a vanilla focussed character.
Mouth-coating and fruity with superb balance, this is an excellent new release from the chaps at Balvenie.

Fabulous scotch! This one of my favorite drams. This scotch is very smooth with excellent tones of rum and a great finish, leaving you to want more. Careful, once you start you may not be able to stop.
Splendid. Smells of butterscotch and Christmas pudding. Tastes of toffee honey caramel and syrup. Quiet a lot to chew on. The nectar lingers pleasantly so. For those who prefer peaty whiskies I wouldn't it. But for those who have a sweet tooth as I certainly do it's glorious. An exceptional whisky. Contender as well as a great alternative to Bourbon.
Caribbean Cask 14 is not a consistent product year-to-year. When it's 'on' - which to my taster means when the rum cask note is subtle and adds just a little 'je ne sais quoi' or 'mojo' ... it is sublime to those who can appreciate that note. When it is 'off' - to me there's that toffee note that just makes it taste like a Highland whisky. Not bad, good even- but distinctly not what I expect from Balvenie.
Excellent taste
Fantastic, extremely smooth with an Oak Aroma and a hint of Vanilla makes it and outstandingly single malt. Very pleasing to the palete and no After bite or residual bitterness.
