A terrific single malt from The Balvenie. This Speysider was initially aged in traditional oak casks before it was finished in casks which previously held Caribbean rum, imparting some extra sweetness and warmth to the whisky. In fact, to create it, Balvenie malt master David C. Stewart made his very own blend of West Indian rums, filled it into casks, and then eventually replaced the rum in said casks with Balvenie's whisky! The fabulous result is a well-rounded whisky with notes of toffee, fruit and vanilla.
The aroma is rich with notes of tropical fruits, namely passion fruit, and creamy toffee.
Sweet vanilla forms a creamy palate with notes of apples and mangoes with a hint of orange in the background.
The finish lingers with a vanilla focussed character.
Mouth-coating and fruity with superb balance, this is an excellent new release from the chaps at Balvenie.

This is an awesome combination of medium weight Scotch with vanilla, orange, rum spices, and toffee. Mixes well or enjoy on the rocks.
This tastes like someone poured a nice single malt balvenie into a glass coated with common rum. I love rum and enjoy scotch, but together this does not work for me. An interesting experiment, but I may end up using it to make some high end cocktails...
Usually I prefer port wood or sherried malts but this one finished in rum is pretty tasty. I really don't get the drizzled honey or mute swans feet and buzzard feathers type descriptions some people have to say about my national drink but this dram rocks for the money.
I have been a religious enjoyer of Scottish single malts as long as I can remember. This is truly something special though and I was asked to try it for the first time at my local pub “Shenanigans in Hollywood Florida. A cultured scotch drinker will love the smoothness and mellow finish, a very very amazingly smooth malt with No sharp edges anywhere. I gifted my bar tender handsomely just for the introduction to this joy of a malt.
One of my favorites. Smooth and simple either on the rocks or straight up. Enjoy.
