Ballechin 11 Year Old 2007 (cask 18) - Straight From The Cask
Here we have an 11 year old Ballechin, which is what the heavily peated single malt whisky from Edradour is called. This expression was distilled in 2007 and left to mature nicely in an Oloroso sherry cask for just over a decade. The liquid was bottled in 2018 for the Straight From The Cask series, with an outturn of 955 bottles at 61% ABV.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Barbecued orchard fruit and dominant peat smoke, with smoked dried fruit sweetness with roasted coffee beans.
Palate
Black Forest gâteau, with oodles of cherries alongside toasty oak and barrel char, salted caramel and a herbaceous undertone.
Finish
More smoke balanced by maple syrup sweetness.
