This is the second release of a 1997 vintage from the Highland distillery of Balblair. Balblair bucked convention a few years back by replacing age-statement with vintages like those of wine bottles.
Crisp, herbal, berries and barley, nutty vanilla.
Sweet, a little earthen quality with a fruity robustness. More vanilla, but now creamier, and gently infused with the oak.
Silken with warm pastries.
I loved the 1989 but cannot justify the price of another at the moment. Anyone out there tried this at all - opinion?
