A single cask bottling of 1996 vintage Balblair single malt, released as part of La Maison du Whisky's Cellar Book series. This expression was initially matured in bourbon casks, before being moved over to a first-fill Spanish oak butt for a two-year-long finishing period.
Black liquorice, fresh citrus, a good waft of menthol.
Vanilla, more orange freshness, fig, cinnamon and cassia spiciness, a touch of old leather.
Yellow plum, quince jelly, peppercorn, cinnamon once again.
This is an amazing, albeit very woody whisky. But that's not uncommon with these heavily sherried Balblairs.
