Nose: Sweet smoke and allspice, with hints of toffee apples, sticking plasters and orange marmalade. A little manuka honey.
Palate: Malt loaf and oily wood smoke, with a core of spices, citrus rind and vanilla. It develops with bonfire toffee and cracked black pepper.
Finish: A long, peppery finish with lingering vanilla custard, and hints of lapsang souchong.
Overall: A wonderfully smoky take on the classic Balblair.
