As the world began its ten-year saunter towards the new Millennium, Balblair distilled this expression of their excellent single malt in 1990 and set it aside to mature in ex-bourbon casks. 21 years later, they moved the whisky over to Oloroso sherry butts for the last two years of maturation before they bottled the single malt for this delicious release.
Lush toffee, milk chocolate and a good helping of vanilla. A sprinkle of spice round out the nose.
Citrus fruits come through first, followed by honey-covered raisins. The spice from the nose makes an appearance.
Lengthy and full-flavoured.
Good amounts of sweet fruits and soft spices, a brilliant full-bodied expression.

I think Balblair is the undiscovered gem of the whisky world. Hence the prices of their older releases represent such great value. The balance in general for their whisky is just superb. For this 1990 2nd release you get to swim and float in a pool of citrus, candy, spice and chocolate. Whisky heaven.
What a great deal I am a big fan of sherried highland single malt and a few irsh this to me is like a very Rich and powerful on taste no burn it's like a Glenfarclas 25 glengoying 21 glendronich 15 and bushmills 16/21 had a super smooth baby it's just that good king Alex 3 has nothing on this plus it's 46%non chill filtered no e150 and has an age statement I have over a hundred bottles in my collection and this has the best treated of the best wiskeys I have had
This is not made in Taiwan. probably the best of the independent Scotch whisky houses, balblair. soft, quiet, elegance
Add some water (a couple of small portions), let it breathe and you should have your self diffirent kinds of whiskies in the same glas that developes throughout the whole night. The nose gets amazing in the end with tones of sauna, lemongrass, coffe and sweet milkchocolate.
