Balblair 40 Year Old 1966 (Gordon & MacPhail)

A 40 year old bottling from Gordon and MacPhail, distilled in 1966 at the Balblair distillery in Edderton, a rich whisky with both floral notes and winter spice and a good helping of cereal notes.

This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

The nose is rich and well-balanced. There are notes of cut herbs and flowers with stemmy hay notes and a leafy greenness. There are notes of gentle smoke and chewy, dark peat. The oak is quite waxy and rich with dried fruits. The palate is rich and powerful. There are notes of rich, chewy oak tannins with a good malty note. The cereal notes are sweet and juicy and coalesce with the peat. A herbal note develops with dry wood smoke. The finish is long and spicy with dried fruits and wood embers aglow.

    Awesome

Bought a bottle of these in 2006. It was by far the best whiskey I ever tasted.
