Aultmore 27 Year Old 1990 (cask 3045) - Mackillop's Choice
27 year old single malt from the Aultmore distillery, independently bottled for the Mackillop's Choice range. This was distilled in May 1990 and matured in a bourbon cask until September 2017, when it was bottled at cask strength with an outturn of 210 bottles. You'll often seen Aultmore with plenty of Sherried notes, but here's a delicious chance to taste their whisky with full-on bourbon cask influence.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Gingerbread fresh from the oven, dried oak, apple crumble and some orange peel.
Palate
Peppercorn and yet more ginger. The citrus elements add plenty of pep, while melted chocolate and salted butter give it a rich creaminess.
Finish
Brandy snaps, nectarine and a very light whiff of oak-y smoke.
