Aultmore 23 Year Old Oloroso Cask Finish (Darkness)

Aultmore 23yo Darkness Bottling Note

An independently bottled single malt from the Aultmore Distillery, which you'd find in the Speyside region of Scotland. This expression was independently bottled as part of the Darkness range, and like the rest of the series, it has been given a finishing period in a sherry octave cask - specifically, this one spent some time in an Oloroso sherry octave. The result is a whisky packed to the brim with rich, sherried brilliance!

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Chocolate and vanilla ice cream, dried fruit, a subtle hint of cinnamon and nutmeg.

Palate: The oaky spices build on the palate, paired with enjoyably bitter chocolate and some candied tropical fruit.

Finish: New leather, mango, final spicy hints of cassia.

Full on flavour 🥃
Superb stuff, chocolate/leather/fruit, as expected, but a wonderfully long, refined finish also. Minus half a star for the 50cl bottle (not the price, would pay the extra for a 70cl bottle)
