This Auchroisk was distilled in 2011 and aged for seven years in a pair of hogsheads before being bottled by Càrn Mòr in 2019 for the Strictly Limited range. A limited outturn of 820 bottles.
Rich malt, buttery notes and an underlying sweetness.
Rounded and complex, more of that malt alongside jammy fruit and spicy hints.
Peppery and oh so malty. A very malty dram.
The spirit from this distillery must be very high quality because even at this young age (7 years), this is a superb dram. the MoM description is bang on but I'd add that it's very smooth - indeed, smooth enough to enjoy at 46% but I did enjoy it marginally more with a drop of water added, which brought out even more flavour. I shall certainly seek out some older whiskies from this distillery if this is what can be produced after 7 years. I am also looking forward to trying my Carn Mor Glentauchers at the weekend and if that's a good quality as this, then more Carn Mor for me!
