Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Crème brûlée, lemon meringue pie and a touch of that deliciously estery Auchentoshan new-make spirit on the nose, leading to creamy fresh fruits on the palate with cask-strength weight. The finish is lingering with hints of meringue and custard.

Expectation Too High?

This potent, promising whisky is well integrated after watering down to the correct level. However, despite its well integrated oaky nature it lacks any form of character. Sadly a rather uneventful Whisky to my taste. I'll be hapilly finishing the bottle however, and imagining where additional maturation and perhaps an interesting finish will bring this whisky.

Meh.

Perhaps I was expecting too much. Nothing wrong and rather well integrated for a NAS, but very uneventful and even a bit bland when watered down to the right level. A shame really as the well integrated nature and high ABV of this whisky promises more.

Best Non-Age Since Black Label

Bought this on sale for $56 CAD after watching a review on YouTube by ralfystuff. First of all, it may come off as non-sense: add 1 part of cold water for every 2 parts of Whisky. It is 57% cask strength. I am serious. I have had >50 bottles of single malt that are under $75 USD. Add 1 part of cold water for 2 parts of whisky if you doesn't want your tongue burnt off. Nose: rubbing alcohol (before water), lemon/orange peel (after water), cereal Palate: Lemon meringue pie, orange peel, cereal Finish: cereal, coconut flakes, whipping cream, maple, nuts, spices, black pepper. It is a very good whisky for $56 if you can get over the non-age title. Add 1 part of water for 2 parts of whisky and that add up to 1050 cl - that's a liter of whisky for $56 - even cheaper than JW Black Label 1.14L

Impeccable well distilled middle Malt, substance, mixed flavour and lasting pallet leave this offering from auchentoshan a favourite. Delighted by the simplicity of the flavour, it's a winner folks. Enjoy.

Needs drop of water and then beats few more expensive ones. I like this stuff. Can enjoy this another bottle.
