Auchentoshan American Oak Bottling Note

From the Auchentoshan distillery in the Scottish Lowlands comes a triple distilled single malt Scotch whisky aged entirely in first fill American oak casks. A light, bright whisky with plenty of vanilla sweetness at its centre - great as an aperitif dram.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Oranges and lemons, toffee chunks and milk chocolate. Wafts of grassy air and clotted cream.

Palate: Bounty bars, more citrus peels and peaches. A little bit buttery, with golden barley and oak spice developing on the mid palate.

Finish: Lasting notes of grapefruit and toffee pennies.

Sweet, smooth, tasty.
Hint of banoffee on the nose, not strong but fresh and sweet. Very smooth on the palate, maybe too smooth, but a lovely creamy and faintly spicy finish. Doesn’t blow you away, but very drinkable and good value.

I won't be buying again
Hi bought the single malt American oak in Northern Ireland last September for Christmas 21. Very sorry to say that it has to be one of if not the poorest whiskey I've tasted. I'd have to say it tasted very watery and no wow factor, which is what I was expecting after a good recommendation. Is it whiskey at all??

Great Lowland single malt!
Our scotch tasting group has been active for 19 years and this is the scotch we use as an introduction to new members. It’s somewhat sweet and smooth and a good one to spring on bourbon drinkers. I always have one on hand.

Easy to Enjoy
Its easy to spot those that know from those that dont and post bizarre impossibly bad reviews.

Nice and smooth and simply easy to enjoy. You cannot go wrong in its style for the price.

Good whisky if your new to the Whisky world
I'm new to the world of whisky and this is my 1st single malt I've Purchased I can't go into depth about tasting notes as my palette is underdeveloped however I will say if your new to whisky and want to try a reasonably priced single malt I highly recommend giving this a go. It's smooth, creamy and a great sipper.

Well priced pleasant enough malt.
Not sure where the “bitter” comments come from.
For me it’s a decent malt at a reasonable price.
Certainly not my favourite but a pleasant easy drinker.

Poisonous
Totally revolting. Sour, bitter, sharp, fiery. Undrinkable. The only thing I can think of to do with it would be to add only a tiny bit at a time to Coca-Cola. Or to tip it away.
