Arran
Scotland
Rich and full bodied, Arran seems to suit red wine, and this Port Cask finish is testament to that. Great maturity and at 50% for additional complexity. This expression was released in 2010.
Crème caramel and berry fruits, hints of raspberry jam, damsons, peppermint and barley.
Creamy palate with notes of ginger, black pepper, berry fruits and cocoa.
Warming with notes of pastries, gingernuts, redcurrant jelly and spice.
Brilliant. Luscious. Velvety. Intrigued by some of the other reviews!!
Easy to drink crisp and tasty
For 50% and given the finish I found the Arran disappointingly thin and lacking the body and Rich port influence of the altogether much more wholesome Tomintoul or indeed something like a Quinta Ruban even the benromach which spends much less time in port casks has more guts about it. It's very spirity at 50% and water helps it a little but given its provenance - an island malt finished in port casks at cask strength, its very disapppointing to my palate, very middle of the road and quite dull.
superb, smooth and very drinkable
I think maybe One dimensional got a bit confused with this one!!
