    Single Malt

    Arran Machrie Moor Cask Strength

Peated single malt whisky from the isle of Arran, bottled at cask strength. Previous editions have been released in yearly batches, but in 2018, the Arran distillers decided that these whiskies had become so popular that they deserved to be a permanent part of the range! Ideal! This punchy expression is named after the mystical peat bog western side of the island - which is fitting, considering the plentiful peat notes running throughout. Almost like it was planned...

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Almost Perfect

Machrie Moor (non cask) is one of fav Arran Malts. This is a step above the norm , its not really a peated malt just well flavoured and strong. Try neat then add water , lovely

    Fireworks

Helped finishing off some very fine Skipness kippers before consuming( I had Mackerel), which set things off. An explosive introduction. After a salt fresh nose smoke fed smoke, I got burnt liquorice , ash, ripe fruit. and a dancing pepperiness. When it had burnt down to embers, the pineapple and mango came through and the pepper turned to chocolate. What a balancing act through various dimensions. Next time I'll have the kippers another day though.

    Great NAS

Smoke and tropical fruits on the nose. Smooth and sweet on the palate and long, sweet and smoky finish. Fantastic presentation with the tin packaging. Excellent stuff.

    Fruity!

Wow,this is tasty,so fruity, slight peat, but I usually go for Islay malts and blends, but I was intrigued by this.Melon, mango, kiwi,it is gorgeous. If you liked Douglas Laings Rock Island or Port Askaigs sadly missed 100% then I think you will like this!

For peat’s sake, this is fine

I came to Arran whisky only recently and loved its purity and refinement. But unlike its sister isle, Islay, the standard Arran is unseated. This little beauty, however, shows the Islay beasts how it should be done. As expected, it is impeccably distilled but the smokey peatiness adds a new level - I almost said thrill - to a superb product. Dangerously drinkable at 56%, so smooth, so welcoming, so be careful.
