“It spent 8 years in ex bourbon casks and only 9 months in amarone casks. It's really only a finish, maybe it should spend some much time. The amarone can be detected more in the colour than in the flavour, but it leaves its mark in any case. I recommend it with some water since it has a high alcholic gradation and the alcol tends to cover its great flavour and aroma. Quite good for its price and something to try!”

Superb rich smooth quality whisky at an unbelievably good price.

Master of Malt Customer Nov 27, 2015

In response to the opening post.

This whisky has been finished in an Amarone cask. That's a dry Italian red wine. As it says on the bottle the colouring is natural - it's simply the whisky picking up a touch of the wine colour from the cask.

Surprise Surprise

My wife actually plucked this up for me as a gift and she based this on a purchase I had made before which was a Macallan finished in sherry oak. This was a fantastic discovery for me and I have enjoyed this single malt so much more. The rich smooth taste with a clean flavorful finish is great. Still can't let the wife know this......she did good.

Yummy

I would echo the previous review: Dangerously drinkable. It is so creamy, rich, and sweet. It does have a slight dryness on the palate, much like an Amarone wine. Very very very good.

Master of Malt Customer Nov 21, 2014

Delicious

Dangerously drinkable. Don't be swayed by the colour as it is a result of the wine cask. A great purchase.
