Ardmore 27 Year Old 1998 - Decadent Drams (Decadent Drinks)
A 1998 vintage single malt from Ardmore Distillery, matured long in refill wood before a finishing stretch in a second-fill sherry hogshead. Bottled at 51.5% ABV with a small outturn of 236 bottles, this leans hard into that older-school Ardmore profile. Think dry, waxy peat rather than bonfire theatrics, with a distinctly old-fashioned edge that feels closer to 1970s styles than modern releases.

Nose
Soft, drying peat smoke, pepper, waxes, aniseed and camphor.
Palate
Drier peat style, earthy and mineral, with waxy texture, herbs and a faint medicinal edge.
Finish
Long, drying and quietly smoky, with mineral notes, wax and a thread of dried honey.
