This single malt from Ardmore spent 19 years maturing, including a finish in a custom-made Pedro Ximénez sherry octave courtesy of the gang behind the Darkness indie bottling range. Octave casks are smaller than your average cask, ensuring more contact between the spirit and the wood, so you can expect generous sherry influence here.
Toasted coconut, a touch of engine oil, damp charcoal and chewy treacle toffee.
Earthy peat smoke and treacle support meaty malt and barky, woody spice.
Sticky toffee, cured meat, honey-soaked prunes, and raisins back resinous oak.
