This was distilled at the Ardmore distillery in February 1996 before a 16 year maturation in a single cask (a refill hogshead). It was bottled for Douglas Laing's Old Malt Cask range in February 2012, and there are just 315 bottles available.
Nose: Wood ash and hints of smoked meat. A little gingernut, barley and allspice.
Palate: Oily, spicy palate with big notes of wood smoke and pepper.
Finish: Citrusy finish. Hints of wood ash on the tail.
Overall: A smouldering, spicy Ardmore...
