    Ardbeg Supernova 2015 (SN2015) - Committee Release

Ardbeg, in case you didn't know, sent some maturing spirit into space. Or, more accurately, tubes of "Ardbeg-crafted molecules" that also contained sticks of charred oak. The idea was to compare their interactions to those of control samples on earth.

To celebrate the conclusion of Ardbeg’s experiment in space, it released this final Committee release of the super-duper-peated Supernova single malt. At 100PPM (phenolic content measured in parts per million) compared to Ardbeg's usual 55PPM, this was one of the most heavily-peated whiskies in the world back when it was released.

This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!

    Peerless Gaffer Juice

Jings, Islay whisky always sits at the pinnacle of fine drams in my estimation; and each has its own unique attraction. This very special Ardbeg has just built a new cairn at the very top of my Islay mound. Sipping tonight as I sit on deck of my wee Gaff-rigged Hooker, and watching the sun set over Islay, Jura and more, my contentment is complete. Superb! Congratulations to all at Ardbeg.

    Best Ardbeg ever, period.

Absolutely amazing stuff if you can find it.

    Unctuous

In the ascended world of billionaires there must be superlatives. This is that spirit.

    Wonderfully surprising

A beautiful blend of the typical ardbeg peat and smoke with a softer finish. Make no mistake at 54% it is strong and definitely full of phenols with a heavy ethanol finish but somehow manages to be balanced and diminishes to fruity, if not slightly salty, finish. One of the best from ardbeg. Like a super charged corryvrecken
