    Ardbeg Perpetuum

In 1815, the Ardbeg distillery was founded by John McDougall on the Isle of Islay. In 2015, Ardbeg Perpetuum was released during Fèis Ìle 2015 in celebration of their 200th anniversary. Dr. Bill Lumsden has created a full-bodied Islay single malt, rich in coastal peat, smoked meat and well-rounded vanilla notes, using a blend of whiskies both young and old, matured in both bourbon and Sherry casks. Here’s to the first 200 years - and to the next 200 years too!

    It's not older,.....so what.

I shared a bottle of this with eight whisky friends at a holiday party last night. Sure, it seems on the younger side but I found it vibrant, fresh and well made. What's wrong with that? Nose - smoke, light peat, vanilla, some ash, white fruits. Palate - smoked pears, some white pepper, sweet/light peat, salted cotton candy, some lemon grass and a slight, salty smoked ham note. Finish - medium. What can I say,..is it the finest dram I've ever had? No, but I enjoyed it very much. Sure it's pricey but what do you expect from the current most fashionable scotch whisky maker? We polished off the bottle so I'll be buying another one today.

    Not a memorable dram

I'm a fan of Ardbeg but not this release. A lot like the 10-yr but with an added dose of single grain and maybe a touch of something older. The taste is pleasant but has none of the mouth-coating joy of a good whisky, just too thin. Just as soon have 2 bottles of the Girvan Patent Still Apps No.4 for the price and add my own Uigeadail. Hardly represents Ardbeg's 200 yr history to me. Two stars for failed expectations.

    Re: 13th Nov. '15 review

"It has a lot of older Ardbeg in there." Must be the LVMH marketing team talking since the bottle may be older than the whisky inside.

It has a lot of older Ardbeg in there. Fantastic Ardbeg day whisky, must try for the Ardbeg fans!

    Very disappointing indeed

I'm a fan of Ardbeg or should I say was a fan. Bought this on a trip to the US, paid over $100 for a poor quality Scotch. Very young, lacks any sort of complexity and no finish. This is just a marketing ploy by Ardberg, selling an average Scotch at a high retail price. Its a good way to lose followers. I'll stick to other Islay Scotchs
