Powerfully peaty and immensely satisfying, Ardbeg's Corryvreckan is what happens when the distillery of Islay's Kildalton Coast aims to make a whisky with a particularly medicinal style than its usual expressions. Aptly named after a nearby whirlpool, Corryvreckan is an intense dram that we simply love.
Sticking plasters, buttery, creamy, roast chicken crisps, herbal, almost a hint of pine…
Cream, spices, tingling, fresh fruit, medicinal, plasters, Clementines. Orange peels.
Salty, more medicinal, smoked meats, peat is fleeting, tarmac, chilli, salt.
Astonishing.

A really great, interesting whisky. The nose is nice, quite fiery, definitely got a lot of the herbal & pine notes. The palate is extraordinary, suprisingly sweet and light but, after a few seconds, this gives way to a spicey, zesty punch. The finish is great if you like Islay whiskys, a salty, peaty, smoky impact which recedes to reveal a calmer, more subtle hit of cured, sweetish meat with a kick peppercorn. Really enjoying it thus far - have had the 10 yr, Uig, and Laphroaig Quarter Cask, Laphroaig 10, Lagavulin 16 (which I really did not like), thus far this is the best Islay expression I've had.
This is a great Ardbeg. Very intense creamy smoke, Smoked meats, and a strong coastal salinity. NCF, no e150, and at a high ABV just like all scotch should be. As far as Islay’s go I’d put this one as better than anything from laphroaig or Lagavulin and Ardbeg 10, but in my opinion not quite as good as the Uigeadail. It lacks the amount of depth and sherry sweetness that the Uigeadail has.
Smooth, sweet tasting. Warming aftertaste. Something different!
Excellent my favourite lovely the explosion of taste in the month is fantastic love it buy it
