Salty, more medicinal, smoked meats, peat is fleeting, tarmac, chilli, salt.

I cannot believe the reviews here. I've had some of the most exclusive, best bottlings of whisky that have ever existed, Port Ellen 73, Rosebank, Milton Duff 23yo, Brora 21, Clynelish, St Magdalene, and i think that Corry is the best easily-available, commercially priced whisky that you can buy today. Honestly nothing is going to beat a Port Ellen, but this comes pretty darn close, AND costing 1/30th of the price. I find Uigeadail just as valid, but prefer the salty, spicy tones of Corryvreckan.
I’m not sure when I first tried Corryvrekan, But it was sometime between 2010 in 2015. It was a revelation - Ardbeg peat and smoke with that delicious dark fruit from whatever they are aging the product in. But my most recent bottles are just not the same. The dark fruit now is much more subtle and a bit off. This used to be my favorite scotch, but now I do not think I will buy it again until I hear that it’s returned to its former glory.
The nose is definitely off, smells of bourbon and not in a pleasant way. Taste has a family resemblance, which is good, but it’s not really as good as the 10. Ardbeg 10 is my absolute favourite scotch, this doesn’t hold a candle to it.
Lovely stuff full of smoke and tar and sweetness. proceed with caution...can take your legs away!
For years i bought laphroaig 15 year but switched when they started selling the 18 year one. After trying lots of different islay bottles I found ardbeg uigeadail to be a very suitable alternative and while their supanova committee release was fantastic i have been less impressed with some of their other bottlings. This is another of those i have tried but will not be tempted again. I had high hopes from some reviews but have found it very light more like some caol ila bottlings. Plenty of fire but no smoke or peat or other flavours.
