Powerfully peaty and immensely satisfying, Ardbeg's Corryvreckan is what happens when the distillery of Islay's Kildalton Coast aims to make a whisky with a particularly medicinal style than its usual expressions. Aptly named after a nearby whirlpool, Corryvreckan is an intense dram that we simply love.
Sticking plasters, buttery, creamy, roast chicken crisps, herbal, almost a hint of pine…
Cream, spices, tingling, fresh fruit, medicinal, plasters, Clementines. Orange peels.
Salty, more medicinal, smoked meats, peat is fleeting, tarmac, chilli, salt.
Astonishing.

A brilliant whisky for the price. For me this is the best in the range after the supernova. Much richer and complex than the uigeadail. And having had them, is arguably better bang for your buck than the Ardbog or the Renaissance. After laphroaig 18 this is my go to bottle. Sure to go up in price as the others have, in the near future.
I never drink it before
This smelled like rocket fuel and just was unclean, and unfiltered. There was something not right about this. The initial notes were nice, and it had a nice smokey peat draw, but this tasted like some very immature fire water and the finish was immature and quick and left a lot to be desired for especially with it's strength. Adding a few drops of water definitely opened it up a bit and the nose was nice, but the effects of the dram definitely outlined some skipping of steps in the process or immaturity like it was made in a bath tub overnight or I just got a bad batch. Something just wasn't right. I'll take Lagavulin 16 any day over this.
It is a good, but not great, whiskey. To me, anyway, it is not worth the price. Uigeadail is the best Ardbeg and it is a little high priced as well.Don't get me wrong. I like Ardbeg whiskies but, I like Laphroaig just as much and Laphroaig is a much better value, especially the Quarter Cask.Still, it is a good whiskey but, I'll never buy it again. Cheers!
Anyone who says this isn't flavoursome is mad. Takes a drop of water very well, opens out the BBQ flavours!
