Powerfully peaty and immensely satisfying, Ardbeg's Corryvreckan is what happens when the distillery of Islay's Kildalton Coast aims to make a whisky with a particularly medicinal style than its usual expressions. Aptly named after a nearby whirlpool, Corryvreckan is an intense dram that we simply love.
Sticking plasters, buttery, creamy, roast chicken crisps, herbal, almost a hint of pine…
Cream, spices, tingling, fresh fruit, medicinal, plasters, Clementines. Orange peels.
Salty, more medicinal, smoked meats, peat is fleeting, tarmac, chilli, salt.
Astonishing.

It's very good but I enjoy most Ardbegs more then this one.. Still very good.
Boom! Bloody hell they're not joking. Just done a taste comparison between the 10, oogie and this. I love them all, but my goodness there's nothing I've tasted quite like this! I can only imagine it's like the sensations of drowning in a burning wooden boat carrying a few oranges at sea must be like. Seawater, tar, bonfires, cedar, pine, I get a woody pine finish that lasts longer than the titanic falling to the bottom of the ocean. It's completely different from the ten, the initial few milliseconds as the brine hits your tongue tells you enough but doesn't give quite enough warning from the ensuing assault on your senses. This isn't just whisky, this is a whole new universe of experience! Oogie is similarly different from the ten, but sweeter, and without that monstrous woody finish. Personally I think this is legendary, I understand what the fuss is about, but if you like smooth and mellow then steer well clear. This is like standing on the docks in a raging storm.
Amazing!! Many layers of full-on flavor and strong finish. (Not sure what I can say that hasn't already been said) To that point, a damn-good scotch!!
The best breakfast scotch ;)
Corryvreckan 2015 and Corryvreckan 2016 are both awful. Committee reserve was awesome, 2013 was decent, what happened?! It's impossible to enjoy neat. Very bad Ardbeg, probably the worst. Even Laphroaig Lore is much better. And it's clearly Ardbeg, you have that distinguish Ardbeg character, It's just so bad and poorly done. As much as amazing Uigeadail is , this one is awful. It's simple in a worst way. One dimensional, sour, alcohol, salty, little Ardbeg smoke on the background. Water doesn't help much, but can make it drinkable, not enjoyable tho. This thing is just falling apart from the beginning. How is that happend? And it's not just one single batch.
