Sound the indie Ardbeg alarm, because we've got a 24 year old single malt from the aforementioned distillery on the south coast of Islay bottled up for the Darkness range! Not only is this a wonderfully well-aged expression, it was also allowed a finishing period in a Pedro Ximénez sherry octave cask, imparting a hefty helping of sherried excellence - which is what Darkness is all about!
Powerful peat, but well-balanced by treacle sweetness and vibrant espresso.
A complex but appetising palate of honeyed cereals, toasted oak, sweet smoke and ripe red apples.
Sherried sweetness sticks around for minutes afterwards.
