Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Muscovado sugar and pungent peat tangle while bold, roasted coffee beans battle through.

Palate: Layers of sweet grist, charred oak, and rich honey lead to treacly smoke. Toffee apples and roasted malt balance the peat.

Finish: That sherry cask has worked its magic, with intense sweet fruits and leathery oak sticking around way beyond the fading earthy smoke.

Ardbeg 24 Year Old 1993 Single Cask (Master of Malt) Reviews

One day these bottlings will be for whisky lovers…

This looks stunning - and should be amazing - BUT sadly 80%+ will just sit on collectors shelves. I was once asked by a major distiller how I would get around this issue (Feis I’ll bottlings to be precise) so that they had more appeal to whisky lovers than profiteering buyers.
My solution was to sell them with an a spring-cap that had no additional seal - ensuring the security of the contents BUT never guaranteeing that it hadn’t been opened. This would basically guarantee that directly sourced bottles were genuine, whilst casting sufficient doubt on resales to cut out resellers.
Never adopted, so I expect these to reappear at four figure pricing soon 😢
