Ardbeg 1977 Reviews

It's a lot of money... but at least it's great whisky.

It is a shame to see how much money 70s ardbegs cost nowadays. But that said. This is absolutely cracking whisky that there is just no more of. This bottling is exactly what ardbeg should be. PEATY. complex, rich, smokey, fudgy, oaky and did I mention peaty? All while keeping a sharp and distinctly satisfying flavor profile. Fantastic whisky.

Very subtle, briney and brings back memories of a quiet fishing pier with a slight sweetness in the back ground on the nose. Sweetness comes more to the front on the palte, but the saltyness balances it out followed by a wave of subtle peat and smoke, pepper comes in just as the finish starts. The finish is long and refined, carries on from palate it was difficult to now where the palte ended and finish started, the peat comes through in the end after a slight sherbert pepper sensation. Amazing dram
