Ardbeg 17 Year Old Bottling Note

Increasingly rare, now discontinued whisky from Ardbeg. Incredibly rich and powerful, and all too easy to drink.

Ardbeg 17 Year Old Reviews

Great Islay Malt

Found a bottle about 6 years ago tucked away in a small wine shop near Bordeaux, (they had a few malts as well as wine) priced at 100 Euro, about £80, Ah could not believe my luck and bought it. One of the best Islay malts ever.

Smoooooth so much better than the 10 year old

I had a bottle in the nineties bought from the Army and Navy Victoria St London very smooth. Went back to get another a few months later and they were all gone. I wish I had hunted a few bottles down while they were still affordable and most importantly available. This was my first dabble into aged single malts, I may be remembering the taste with a rose tinted pallet. However it made such an impression I have between 20 to 30 bottles in my dedicated whisky cabinet. All open I may add. I recently tried a Liechtenstein single malt whisky finished in a Laphroaig cask and wow.

Awesome Islay Art - perfection!

One of my all time favourites, complex so well balanced and eminently drinkable - We mourn it’s loss! Still have a miniature but can’t bear to let it go!

Best scotch ever!

One of the two best Scotches of all time! Complex, smooth, and fantastic!

Best Islay scotch and possibly scotch ever!

Probably the single best single malt scotch that I have ever had and that is going some. Delicate, complex, smooth, nuanced, and literally spectacular!!!

Favorite Islay malt

Impossible to say what might be your favorite malt, as there is too much difference between the regions. When I was in the UK and for several years after, this was reasonably available and affordable. It was always in my cabinet and if pressed I would have to say it was my favorite Islay malt. Definitely out of my reach at today's prices, but as others have noted if I'd known I would have stocked cases of it.

Waste of money

A friend opened a bottle and we drank a dram. Nice but overpriced and a wee bit overrated.

The Best

The best bottle of whisky that I have ever savoured.
Enough said.

Christmas pudding

Fantastic flavour on this great whisky, which does not have the peaty tones of the whiskies of Islay. Unfortunately now retailing at £350 a bottle, but well worth every penny if you have that sort of cash spare.

Simply the Best ...

... Better than all the rest! This is most definitely the best single malt I have ever been proud to have in my collection. My bottle is sadly no more. Asking prices are now ten times what I originally paid.
