When smoke and sherry meet, the result is often fantastic, and that is certainly the case with this Darkness independent bottling of Ardbeg single malt. This 14 year old Islay expression was allowed a finishing period in a Pedro Ximénez sherry octave cask! Octave casks are smaller than your standard cask, resulting in a greater surface area to volume ratio, imparting a wealth of those fab sherried notes we love to the whisky.
Good coffee, earthy tobacco and red apples drenched in honey.
Richly meaty malt balanced by sweeter notes of juicy peach and blackberry. Salted butter and charcoal.
The fruits from the palate keep on developing on the finish, with a touch of spent match.
