    Ardbeg 10 Year Old

A phenomenal whisky packing powerful peaty deliciousness, Ardbeg 10 Year Old is a favourite of many whisky lovers around the world. Produced on the Kildalton Coast of Islay, this single malt matures for a decade before being bottled without any chill-filtration. If you're after a whisky full of coastal air, smoke and more, this is exactly what you want.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

A ridge of vanilla leads to mountain of peat capped with citrus fruits and circled by clouds of sea spray.

    Palate

Sweet vanilla counterbalanced with lemon and lime followed by that surging Ardbeg smoke that we all know and love.

    Finish

Long and glorious; sea salted caramel and beach bonfire smoke.

    Overall

Precise balance, big smoke and non-chill filtered. This is why this is such a famous dram.

    Woah Nellie,.....

Reviews for Ardbeg 10 Year Old

I'm new to single malts, having only had Old Pulteney, Clynelisch, Dalwinnie, and Glenmorangie before I bought this Ardbeg,......but the smokey, biting peat taste really knocked me back. Adding a little water seemed to open the nose somewhat, but this whisky will have to grow on me. Or, maybe not,....

Intense, Powerful, yet Easy to Drink

If you're not a fan of peaty malts then this clearly isn't for you. If you are however then you are in for a treat. This nip dances round the glasss and on the nose before packing a punch like Muhammad Ali! It is so easy to drink, but the smoke and sea air just hit you and stay with you... sometimes right down to the bottom of the bottle.

    Go for other Ardbegs

After having tried corry and oogie, this one just left me thinking, "and?" Especially since the aforementioned are bottled near 60% and this one a mere 46, the price is insignificant. Still, if you've tried and liked the others, and want to get back to the roots of what makes Ardbeg tick, it's a good whisky and you won't regret buying it. I just feel the others have more oomph to offer, and I guess I like oomph.

    Wall of peat

Not a fan of this one, far too peaty for me. Tastes like sucking on an amber from a camp fire.

Wish I had read S'okau's review before buying

I couldn't put my finger on what I thought the aftertaste was, and bandaid seems to nail it. The smell is more of a chemical smell to me than smokey. I thought that I opened a bad bottle but it seems that is how it is supposed to smell. No way I can drink anymore of this. Need to rinse my mouth with some Everclear.
