Something a little different from Annandale, this 2017 vintage of its peated Man O'Sword whisky spent its days in a single STR ex-Burgundy wine cask! After it was filled with the wine, the cask was shaved, toasted and re-charred, and then partially seasoned with Oloroso sherry before it was finally filled with the smoky spirit. A fruity, peaty, peppery delight!
Nose: Smoky cigar box and barbecued meat balanced by Bounty bar, cherry jam and frangipane.
Palate: Singed garden herbs and waves of aromatic peat smoke, along with oaky vanilla, more coconut and a crack of black pepper.
Finish: Nectarine, plum and peppery oak linger.
