Knockdhu renamed their whiskies anCnoc to avoid confusion with the nearby Knockando distillery. This 12 year old exhibits a gentle, non-sherried style of whisky.
Aromatic, quite robust. Honeysuckle, fresh flowers, cereals, barley.
Medium, good sweetness. Madeira, winter spices, mocha, Crème de Cacao, herbal hints and toasted granary bread.
Medium length, great interplay between oak and barley.

I've had this whisky in the past and I seem to remember had more 'ooomph'. It's still pleasant enough and very easy drinking - plenty of fruit (I got pineapple!), vanilla and honey - but not as good as I remember it. It may have been 46% in the past? I suppose for the price it's fair enough but I think when this bottle's finished there will be no more.
To the two children who posted the previous comments, you have my sympathy and I sincerely hope that in time, you learn to appreciate single malt whisky. This is clean, elegant, sophisticated. The moment I tasted it, the image appeared in my mind of a small gathering of native Gaelic speakers sitting around an open fire, the remains of a freshly-caught salmon in the background, with a clarsach gently playing in the background. Ancnoc is single malt whisky for grown-ups. For people who don’t use an “old fashioned” to drink it. Or say, “on the rocks”. For those who have no idea what “Spring Break” is. This is the first time I have ever given a 5 star rating to a whisky on this site.
Watery, boring, weak, completely uninteresting. All in all, cheap garbage. I suppose if thats your thing then this is the whisky for you. But if you want flavour, and body, 100% avoid this one. This is apparently overrated by many, I dont understand it. Jim Murray "HIGHLY" recommends this stuff which is why I do not take him serious, he's about as overrated as this whisky. The only "good" thing about the Ancnoc 12 is that every whisky you have after it, will taste 10 times better than otherwise.. including cheap blends!
Watery..in fact more so than Highland Park 12.Utter rubbish..total waste of £31..would rather drink cat p*ss!
So delicate and easy to drink. Like real Highland honey!
