Distilled from barley grown at the North West of India. Amrut mature their single malt in New American Oak and ex-bourbon before bottling.
Intense barley and grain, nutty, citrus, apricot.
Barley, honey develops with allspice, apricot, rum.
Apples, apricot, greengages, malt, fruit.
Very interesting, multifaceted.
Certainly not unpleasant, but otherwise slightly hollow and watery. While it has a "distinct" flavour, compared to other whiskies I've tried, this does not make it a standout. The bouquet is sweet, with a hint of sacrin. The opening is sugary, young fruits, hint of unripened banana. It fades to a subtle young oak finish. Overall, fairly simple.
Sorry to say that this Amrut doesnt work for me at all. It tastes like old sour shoe. I do hope the other Amrut's are alot better than this one. /Mike Sthlm Sweden
It has a stronger, more complex taste than the fruity, banana-esque nose gives away.
