Fusion is a particularly apt name for this fantastic single malt whisky from Amrut. Y'see, it's made with barley grown in India, where the Amrut Distillery can be found, as well as peated barley from Scotland! Makes sense, right? Not just a clever name, it's also a cracking whisky, offering up generous helpings of fresh fruit, honey, spice and a good whiff of smoke.
Rich, barley, fruity. Big on citrus, spices, creamy sweetness. A hint of peat.
Oaky, rich, gentle peat, coffee, dark chocolate. Fruity.
Long, spiced, marmalade, sweetness.
Had read about Amrut Fusion. Did search for a bottle in New Jersey in a shop, the size of a football field. Thought I'd gift a friend something other than our favourite Laphroaig. Just been gifted two bottles by a Bangalorean friend. Opened and tasted Fusion. Deserves all the awards. I have just been converted to an Amrut diehard. Thank you, Mr. Jagdale!
Heaps of oak and a finish that carries on until you wake up in the morning. One of my all-time favourite whiskies and one which blows a lot of the more established and expensive competition clear out of the water!!
Excellent ! is the only word that can describe this seductive beauty :) never thought an Indian single malt can compete with speyside single malts... I am very glad to stand corrected :) Amrut FTW !
Received a bottle at Christmas from daughter (sweet thing!). I found that the peat was nicely pronounced when sampled neat--added a little water and, hey-presto!!-transformed into a Speyside-like malt. Enjoying some while I type this......
This is different from your standard supermarket whisky but if you like a slighty peaty type with bags of flavour then this is a very good dram. This is one of the nicest whiskeys that I have tried in long time.
