    Single Malt

    Amrut Fusion

Fusion is a particularly apt name for this fantastic single malt whisky from Amrut. Y'see, it's made with barley grown in India, where the Amrut Distillery can be found, as well as peated barley from Scotland! Makes sense, right? Not just a clever name, it's also a cracking whisky, offering up generous helpings of fresh fruit, honey, spice and a good whiff of smoke.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Overhyped?

I cant figure out how people think this compares to lagavulin 16, the finish lacks the campfire smoke and pleasant warmth. This has an slightly harsh ethanol finish. I found the start complex with fruity and a bit of toffee but it drops off a cliff after that.

    Really wanted to love it

I bought this for my fiancé as he loves to try whisky from all over the world and I thought it sounded like it should be something he enjoys. He really wanted to love it and was excited to try it, but it didn’t live up to the hype. It lacks flavour and depth, there is some smoke, but nothing to write home about. The finish is long but only in warmth, not in flavour. Interestingly another reviewer said if you like Lagavulin then you’ll like this - I actually won a bottle of Lagavulin 16 from Whisky Santa, and he doesn’t like it - so maybe it makes sense that he’s not a huge lover of Amrut fusion.

Exceptional Single Malt on the price

Nosing is mild fruity and the palate is rich and very pleasant. For the first time I'm tasting it. Got at Rs. 3340/- in West Bengal. Even being a big fan of Laphroaig 10 this one surprised me from nosing to finish. There is no other Single Malt available in India in this price range having such a nice taste.

    I’m a fan…

Superb Single Malt. Fruity on the nose. I agree it packs a punch on the palate but not unpleasant at all. Hint of peat and long, delicious finish. I’m a fan.

lots of Bangalore for your buck

On the nose, this whiske comes across quite clean and fresh, but on the palate it really packs a punch. A well balanced malt with lots of citrus and fruit and a hint of peat. I had heard many good things about it and I've not been disappointed.
