Darkness! Aberlour 20 YO

Embrace the Darkness! Embrace it, let it into your heart! Or should that be, let it into your glass? You should definitely do both, as this 20 year old Aberlour deserves your love and attention. It was finished for 3 months in little 50 litre casks that previously held Oloroso Sherry. The small size of the cask allows for more interaction between the whisky and the wood, giving it an in-your-face profile of Sherry notes and a deep, dark hue.

"Rich fruitcake but with demonic amounts of extra spice; quite brilliant! In true and very old Aberlour style..."

- Jim Murray (95 Points)

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Juicy raisins and dark spices, red apple, brandy butter and hints of apple pie with dark chocolate shavings sprinkled on top.

Palate Dried fruit and oak with bitter marmalade and milk chocolate late palate.

Finish Drying with more oak and fruit, touches of honey and also some cigar box that's perhaps been lurking in the background throughout coming to the fore.

Overall Another excellent example of how the 3 months in smaller casks can both add to and concentrate notes already found within the whisky with an intense and delicious result.

I've been really good, can I have

Can't wait to share with friends.
I have a dram of each of the Darkness releases (except the Ardbeg 21) if any one has one they are willing to part with I would be very appreciative. But I must say so far this Aberlour is the best one! I shared it with a non whisky drinker and we both ordered a bottle just moments after finishing it. You wont be disappointed!
