Reviews for Aberlour A'Bunadh
That day has finally come...
Some years ago I discovered this whisky, around batch 45/46. It honestly blew me away.
Not the most subtle of sherry bombs, not the smoothest, not the most rounded. But what it lacked in finesse it made up for with sheer force of character and and focus on delivering something very particular. And it did this at a great price. I said as much in my initial review and bemoaned the day when, as the best value whisky for the money, this would inevitability change for the worse.
Looks like that day is well and truly here. Pernod Ricard's price hike on the Aberlour A'Bunadh has achieved the one thing that I thought would never happen, me not buying the product. But there it is, there's only so much you can charge for anything before you hit the price/reward wall and they smashed into that well and truly. The price bump has driven away so, so many avid fans, the people who looked forward to every release and always bout a couple of bottles. It's a real shame. Off to Glendronach we go....

Understand the whinging, but still an incredible whisky
Beautiful Christmas dram, happy to buy at £58 on Black Friday but agree that £80 is a bit much. Great palate on this batch though, nice progression through alcohol then spices (quite reminiscent of the Compass Box Spice Tree) to a Christmas cake and sherry explosion. Nice long finish. Interesting nose - pretty restrained, quite a bit of red apple whiff.

It is not a bargain any more
Agree with the comment below, Superb Dram but they have lost the plot, way,way over priced
They did not even increase the price gradually. It is not a bargain any more and is facing a lot of competition

One Of My Favorites!
I take 35ml of A’Bunadh and add 15ml of water to bring it down to about 43 ABV. It is glorious. On the nose and on the palette. A Sherry Bomb if there ever was one!! Dark fruits, spicy, vanilla, chocolate scream at me!! A great value.
