    Aberlour 18 Year Old

Aberlour is known for producing some of the finest sherry-cask-matured whiskies in Scotland, and this expression is no exception.

Over 18 years of careful aging created this single malt, first in American oak bourbon barrels then Spanish oak oloroso and Pedro Ximinéz sherry butts. The spirit developed a luxurious depth, where notes of raisins, figs, and cinnamon blend seamlessly with a long, honeyed finish. The rich mouthfeel and well-balanced spice make it a dream dram for those who love their whisky bold yet smooth.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Creamy, like melted vanilla ice-cream. Fruity and honeyed.

    Palate

Fresh juicy apples and oranges before sherry kicks in with supple sultanas and vanilla.

    Finish

Intricate with chocolate raisins and oily caramel notes.

    Exceeded expectations

Have appreciated the inexpensive Aberlour 12 many times and is always in my collection. After reading reviews of the Aberlour 18, I decided to give it a try. For me personally it turned out to be better than the best reviews and it’s knocked the Macallan 18 into second place for me. I feel I’m getting better at half the price. It will have a permanent place in my collection from now on. The tasting notes are exactly as described by those who are more pedantic than me

    Classic.

Far superior to the 40% later version

    Too expensive

My favourite whiskey. But the massive increase in price sours the taste. I bought a bottle for£70 about two years ago at the distillery after a tour. Returned today and the price has jumped to £137. Inflation or profiteering?
